... and impressions

Beginning of June, the 3rd edition of the lovely Leuven Innovation Beer Festival (aka LIBF) took place.

Next to promoting the Beta launch of our app on Android, the Beerhive staff was also there as beer lovers and we had a blast with the brewers line up (which you can still find here) !

The festival featured some local favourites like Brasserie du Brabant with the ever excellent Plato’s Cave, or Brouwerij De Leite – one of the most underestimated Belgian breweries – with their “Pour André”, a homage to André Janssens of organising brewery Hof Ten Dormaal.

“sour is the new IPA”

More than half of the beers available at the festival were sour beers. Despite the New England IPA craze, sour still is the new IPA, you know …

Personally we definitely enjoyed Spring Tonic of the wonderful Scratch Brewing Company from Ava, Illinois: an ideal aperitif beer brewed without hops but bittered and flavoured with locally foraged herbs.

Another winner was Holy Excrement by Jopen brewery from the Netherlands, a “sheep shit smoked malt beer with arctic thyme and Icelandic heather”. How’s that for innovation, huh? And the Beerhive community seemed to like it, since this brew was the highest rated LIBF beer. Further on this page you can find the full Top 5 according to the Beerhive (Android Beta) App users.

The Beerhive team would like to throw a big cheers to Hof Ten Dormaal for working together with us for the festival and giving us some much appreciated exposure.
